It is a short list on purpose.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. It lets the site remember something between one page and the next — that you have a basket, for example, or that you are signed in. Similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage, do the same job in a different way, and are covered here too.

Two kinds of cookies

Cookies the shop cannot work without are set without asking — under EU rules, strictly necessary cookies do not require consent. Everything else is off until you say yes. When you first visit, a banner asks whether we may use analytics and marketing cookies. Nothing in those two groups is loaded, and no data is sent to Google from your browser, until you accept. Refusing is one click and costs you nothing; the shop works exactly the same.

You can change your mind at any time: “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page opens the same choice again. Withdrawing consent stops the cookies from being set from then on; you can also delete the ones already stored in your browser settings.

Cookies the shop needs

wp_woocommerce_session_* — links your browser to your basket on our server. Expires after two days.

woocommerce_cart_hash and woocommerce_items_in_cart — tell the shop that the basket has changed so the right contents are shown. Expire when you close the browser.

wordpress_logged_in_* and wordpress_sec_* — keep you signed in to your account. Expire when you close the browser, or after two weeks if you asked to be remembered.

wp-settings-* — remembers display settings inside the administration. Only set for staff accounts.

lg_wishlist_intent — remembers which product you were saving when you were asked to sign in, so that the heart still works after you have. Expires after one hour.

lg_google_state — a one-time security value used when you sign in with Google, to make sure the reply comes back from the same sign-in you started. Expires after a few minutes.

lg_consent — remembers the choice you made in the cookie banner, so we do not ask again on every page. Expires after one year. It stores only your yes or no per group, nothing else.

lg_currency — remembers which currency prices are shown in, so they stay the same as you move around the shop. It is set automatically on your first visit, based on the country your connection appears to come from. Expires after one year. It stores a three-letter currency code and nothing else.

In your browser’s local storage

lg_cart_count — the number on the basket icon, so it can be drawn immediately instead of after the page has loaded. It stays in your browser and is never sent to us.

lg_wishlist — the products you have saved with the heart while not signed in, so the list survives closing the browser. Cleared after six months without changes, and merged into your account if you sign in. Stays in your browser until then.

Analytics cookies — only with your consent

If you accept analytics, we load Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited). It tells us which pages are visited, where visitors come from and where they give up, so that we can make the shop better. IP addresses are shortened, and we do not use the data to identify you.

_ga — tells Google Analytics that two page views come from the same browser. Expires after two years.

_ga_* — keeps the state of the current visit (session). Expires after two years.

Until you accept, Google Analytics is not loaded at all — not even in a cookieless mode. Google’s own description of the data it processes is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Data may be transferred to the United States; Google is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

Paid orders are counted without cookies

One thing is measured regardless of your choice in the banner: when an order is paid, our own server reports the purchase to Google Analytics — the order number, the amount, the currency and the products bought. This happens server to server. Your browser is not involved, and no cookie is set or read. If you have not accepted analytics, the report carries a random identifier that is not connected to you, your browser or any other visit — it tells us that a purchase happened, not who made it. More in our privacy policy.

Marketing cookies — only with your consent

The banner also has a Marketing group. It is there for Google Ads measurement — to see whether an ad led to a purchase and to show relevant offers. We do not run any ads today, so accepting it currently sets no additional cookies; it only tells our tag that you would allow it. If we start advertising, this page will list the cookies before they are set.

What we do not use

No Meta pixel, no TikTok pixel, no profiling cookies for third parties’ own purposes, and nothing that follows you to other sites.

Cookies from payments and delivery

When you pay, our payment provider may set its own cookies in order to process the payment and prevent fraud. Those are set by that company, on its own pages or in its own frame, and are covered by its policies rather than ours. They are necessary for the payment to work.

How to control cookies

The banner and “Cookie settings” in the footer control the analytics and marketing cookies. Beyond that, every browser lets you see, block and delete cookies. It is usually under Settings → Privacy. You can also browse in a private window, which discards them when you close it.

Be aware that blocking the necessary cookies listed above will break the shop: the basket will empty itself between pages and you will not be able to stay signed in.

More about your data

What we do with personal data in general is described in our privacy policy.
