About Lineage Beef Sticks and the difference from ordinary jerky

Most of what is sold as meat snacks is either jerky with sugar and soy sauce, or dried meat with preservatives and nitrates. Lineage Beef Sticks Classic contains beef, organic vinegar and salt. Nothing else.

The difference from jerky is in the process. Jerky is often dehydrated quickly at high heat, while these are air-dried slowly at low temperature. That gives a more tender texture and preserves more of the nutrition in the meat.

The omega-6:3 ratio of 1.6:1 is verified through nutritional analysis at Edacious. Industrially raised meat often sits at 10:1 or worse, because the animals are finished on grain. Lineage’s animals graze their whole lives, which is the entire explanation for the difference.

Classic differs from Ancestral in containing no organs. If you want liver and heart in the recipe, the Ancestral versions come in three flavours.

Why does the casing sometimes come away?

The casing is made from natural collagen and behaves differently from synthetic casings. That it releases a little is normal and affects neither the taste nor the shelf life.

Where does the meat come from?

From regenerative farms in Australia, New Zealand and the USA, where the animals graze year-round.

Do they need refrigerating?

No. The sticks are air-dried and keep at room temperature. Store them in a dry, cool place.

What is the omega-6:3 ratio and why does it matter?

It is the ratio between omega-6 and omega-3 in the fatty acid composition. Industrially raised meat often sits at 10:1 or worse. Lineage sits at 1.6:1 thanks to the animals grazing their whole lives, verified through nutritional analysis by Edacious.

How long does a 3-pack last?

Three bags of 113 grams, that is 340 grams in total. For most people that lasts a couple of weeks as a snack.

What is the difference between Classic and Ancestral?

Classic contains only grass-fed beef, vinegar and salt. The Ancestral recipe also contains grass-fed liver and heart, which gives more vitamin A, B12, iron and CoQ10.

About Lineage Provisions

Lineage Provisions is an American brand that builds its entire range on raw materials from grass-fed, regeneratively raised animals. The thinking behind the company is simple: make products from what the animal actually consists of, rather than breaking raw materials down and putting them back together.

The range runs from beef sticks and air-dried steak to protein powder, collagen, creatine, tallow, coffee and raw honey. What they all share is the same requirement of the raw material: animals grazing year-round, verified by a third party rather than by the supplier itself.

The products are developed by Dr. Paul Saladino and Dr. Anthony Gustin, and every batch is tested for contaminants with certificates of analysis published openly.
