About Blueprint Omega-3

Blueprint Omega-3 takes its omega-3 straight from microalgae rather than from fish. Fish do not build EPA and DHA themselves; they get them by eating algae.

Going straight to the algae removes two problems at once. First, the heavy metals and environmental toxins that accumulate up the food chain, and second, the pressure on fish stocks. The oil is cultivated in closed tanks, which also makes the content more consistent from batch to batch.

The ratio between EPA and DHA is 1:1 here, that is 400 mg of each. Many fish oils tilt clearly towards EPA, while the authorised claims about brain function and vision apply specifically to DHA.

Use

Take 2 capsules of Blueprint Omega-3 daily with a meal containing fat. The fat improves the absorption of EPA and DHA.

Bryan’s recommendation
  • Taken with a meal
  • A vegan source from microalgae, not fish
  • The capsule has delayed release
  • 30 servings per pack

The capsule has delayed release, which in practice means it opens further down the digestive tract. That is mainly to avoid the fishy repeat that is otherwise the most common objection to omega-3.

Which meal you choose matters less, as long as it contains some fat. Regularity over weeks means more than the exact time of day.

Included together with the base formula in the Blueprint Essential Capsulesroutine.

Frequently asked questions about Blueprint Omega-3

Why algae instead of fish oil?

Fish get their omega-3 by eating algae. By going straight to the source you avoid the heavy metals that accumulate in the food chain, and production does not put pressure on fish stocks.

How much EPA and DHA do I get per day?

800 mg in total with two capsules, split between 400 mg EPA and 400 mg DHA. The authorised claims about the heart, brain function and vision apply from 250 mg per day.

Does it give a fishy aftertaste?

The oil does not come from fish and the capsule has delayed release. Orange and lemon oil are also included to counter any aftertaste.

Can I take it at the same time as other supplements?

Yes. Omega-3 is often taken together with a daily base formula. Read more about what is worth keeping in mind at the European Food Safety Authority.

Do the capsules need to be kept cold?

No, room temperature is enough. Avoid direct sunlight and heat, since polyunsaturated fats oxidise faster then. Reseal the jar properly after every use.
